I will present here my favourites and reveal the overall winner and new AngelCrusher that will feature during AFL 5. After seeing so many great ideas and designs, at the end of the day, the new AngelCrusher had to be something I felt comfortable drawing and writing for during the tournament, and which one I felt would fit me personally. Honestly, I could see each design have a great story in its own right as I expressed with many of you, and maybe in a different time staged in different circumstances they would have been contenders, but just didn't feel right for AFL 5.

Oh how I loved this design. A very powerful looking and feeling AngelCrusher. He look like he means business, looks like he would reign with an iron fist, or that hammer, whatever. Great helmet design and just a great looking character. Could have easily slipped into AC's role.

In some ways it is simple, but in others in encompasses the attitude of AngelCrusher. I could see her being very organized like AC is, but also those glasses act like her mask, and adds a coldness to her that makes her fitting of a fighting tournament creator. A very strong contender, and a look I would unashamelessly copy for future women of AFL.

A hulk of an AngelCrusher! Really captures the raw power and intimidation of someone who is the creator of AFL. While it seemed simple and not too far away from AC's design, that is what makes it feel like AngelCrusher. The designs on the glove and the cyborg like arm were great touches. The only worry would be would a hulking figure like this be taken seriously as someone with the sinister intellect to set up a tournament like this? He could certainly enforce it, that is for sure!

I loved this, really did. I think it is a great design and does so many things different but captures a lot of AC's features. Although, perhaps it is too different for the tone of AC with the full body suit, he feels more heroic or super. I really dig the design of it, and could very well be a variant suit for AngelCrusher to meet a certain need for it.

I loved the idea of this, where two people made up the name AngelCrusher and took over the mantle by acting as a power couple, and suiting that they would be twins as well. The two characters themselves had simple enough designs, but felt sinister, felt like they would have ego enough to stage AFL and rule over it, not only together, but as individuals. A clever idea that worked.

People will be sick of hearing me say how much I love these designs, but I really do, and no exception here. Another great design, and does something very different with AC's costume, and yet, it doesn't feel out of place in the slightest. I love the changes and the extra details, but then, maybe it was too close to AC. I can totally see me wanting to draw this costume on AngelCrusher, and it would still be AngelCrusher. I don't know, it feels like AC, and looks like AC but maybe it just feels too familiar, even though the outfit is very different. If anything, its a big compliment that the look just seamlessly works for AngelCrusher.

This is just cool, and I really dig it. The hood is different from just going with the skull mask, and yet I can think of it working really well as an image. I loved the scar cross on his chest, and thought that this version rendered realistically would look gross, but oh so cool. I really liked the trousers/pants design. It was completely different, yet feels like AngelCrusher would wear. The skull belt buckle also seems so simple, but works so well with this design. The only thing that doesn't quite sell it for me is the cape attached to the arms. Something about it just doesn't sit right, and maybe it makes the character seem too flamboyant or too dramatic. Really hard to pinpoint it, but as an overall design, and all the other elements, this was one rocking AC design!

This guy definitely has the right tone and feeling of AngelCrusher. He looks laid back, but has a sense of power and authority. I really liked the power arm which would give AC a need visual impact of strength, and I liked the graphic idea of having a cigar. The mask was also a completely different idea that others have done, and it works quite well. It is quite haunting actually, the amount of white that covers the face shaped by the rest of the black on the mask. Maybe the rest of the design with the plain vest and trousers/pants and boots couldnt quite boost the design enough to the winner's podium, but it works really well as it is, and possibly was just a graphic or two away from catching the eye and being the new AC.

Now I know, this guy already looks like AngelCrusher, and yet he doesnt too. The trousers/pants are a different design, the boots are different, the belt is different, the mask is different, the gloves are different, and of course he has wings! lol It feels very much like AC, like a returning AngelCrusher, which seems to fit the circumstances of too perfectly really. A mysterious new AngelCrusher arrives, seemingly angel like, looking like a saint or some sort. Is he looking for redemption? I thought it was a great design, the subtle changes everywhere combine to make a great looking AC that feels like the one of old, and yet adds alot more to it too. Although I cant quite picture how the cloak thing works, and what the mask looks like under that hood. It looks great with the head covered in mostly shadow, but then its hard to make out what it is like altogether. But that minor detail aside, so many things work on so many levels, a real contender.
But the winner, for me, is...

Now I know everyone will think this just looks like some wrestler, but you have to remember AngelCrusher's roots and what makes AC who he is, and I think this design pretty much encaptures that. You get a sense of the wrestling history of the character, and he is cloaked in AngelCrusher themed designs. The hood works really well, simple, but practical and effective. The skull mask/face paint is a big change, but one that works and that isnt out of place. I really like this design. In some ways it doesnt feel too dissimilar to AngelCrusher and yet you look at it and everything is completely different. I can totally see this character fitting the mold of what AngelCrusher was, how he acted, but the look of the character is so different it feels like a new person has taken the mantle, but hasnt taken liberties with dishonouring his name by being the polar opposite of what AC was, how he looked, and what he represented.
And there you have it, your new AngelCrusher, which I will draw up shortly. This new AngelCrusher will be the boss during AFL 5 and I hope we will see alot of this character during AFL. As you can see, the decision was not easy and there were so many great designs in this selection of 10, yet alone the 70+ that entered.
