Hey ho!
I am back from my holidays at long last! Never had any time to get to comments and sadly no time for drawing either. I will make up for it though with all the commissions I have to get back to doing.
Its always weird going away and being cut off from the world with no internet. There wasn't any wifi on the boat (unless you wanted to pay for it) and 3G is expensive in foreign countries. But its sort of liberating not having to worry about the internet, messages, emails...it makes me remember of times when I was more productive. lol
Anyway, holiday was a blast. Saw some great shows during the cruise, eat plenty of free food, experienced awful and wonderful weather and even managed to watch some football which I am always happy with. Highlight was going inside the Vatican Church. I am not a religious man by any means, but what a grand, beautiful building with amazing artwork and sculptures. Truly remarkable building.
One particular achievement during my trip was climbing a 200 foot wall. Now, I am shit scared of heights, really, really hate them. I get dizzy and weak at the knees climbing up a ladder. But my girlfriend was climbing a wall, I said I would have a go and quit when I didn't like it, but I just kept going like spider-man. A very slow, and shaky, nervous spider-man who refused to look down and hated every moment of the climb. lol Seriously, my legs shook as I could kinda glimpse everything below me and I was so scared I didn't think I would have the strength to pull myself up. And it just got harder and harder as it got higher, but I started to see the top with the bell to ring and knew I couldn't quit being so close. I am happy to say I did it...but never again! Definitely confronting that fear did not conquer it.
Being away also allowed me to catch up on my reading. I ploughed through some Dragon Ball Z mangas. Say what you want about the story, the cliches, whatever, the artwork is wonderful and inspiring. And without filler episodes its non stop action. Brilliant. I really need to draw more DBZ fanart.
But one book which I thoroughly enjoyed was a book by
Max Brallier called
"Can You Survive the Zombie Apocalypse?" -
[link]
Its an adventure type book where you make decisions as you go along and flip to certain pages to see the outcome of your choices. Its a great read, a little bit of horror, lots of gore, laughs and epic moments. I cannot recommend this enough. Have you always watched a zombie movie and complained at how the characters have reacted? Well this puts you in the position to act out the apocalypse as you would intend to. I won't spoil things too much, but on my first read I ran home from work, barricaded myself in my apartment, ran out of supplies and joined the Hell's Angels. There are loads of different story arcs and endings, some good, a lot of bad, grizzly ends, but all a great read. I wish I could play a zombie game like this.
Anyway, thanks for reading. Now to catch up with everything on dA.
