I was surprised by it myself. Like many people I was worried at what Disney would do; if they would try to change it or keep it the way it is. You should check what this guy did on Youtube [link] it is absolutely hilarious. Thankfully it hasn't happened...yet
I actually feel really disturbed by it. This is a pretty funny drawing though. I made a web comic about Disney's buyout of Marvel in which Mickey and Wolverine get into a conflict during a meeting. Wolverine's claws get replaced with spoons!
hehe thanks buddy. Yeh, it was crazy when this happened and it was funny to see all the images pop up on the net. i may have actually seen that pic...blogs were uploading our artwork without permission everywhere.
No problem! I'm a huge fan of classic animation and cartoon characters so seeing Mickey implemented in a parody like that was unique. I don't think any of my comics have shown up anywhere honestly. I'd be flattered to see that happen to me though...I need the exposure.
haha, thanks. yeh, background sucks because it was a rush job. As soon as I heard the news, I wanted to get something done so drew and coloured this up within the hour. Got me some good exposure, so morale of the story, be quick and topical.
i agree ive been a huge fan of mickey mouse and i jumped up and down when i heard this boy was i happy and dont worry disney wont kill marvel hey disney has done so many cool things like kingdom hearts series and i also saw a pic at wdw that had a vampire mickey and other gothic things like that
To be honest, I think I share the same fear that every comic fan has - that THIS is what we have to look forward to. But after reading a link put in Sean Gordan Murphy's dA journal, I realised what a blessing this could be.
I agree with you, AC - I mean, look at it this way:
- Hasbro have been ruining the action figures. Disney make better toys. - The guy who's running Disney atm has comic connections; his uncle/dad's brother ran (I think it was Timely before it became) Marvel pre-Stan Lee, and employed Jack Kirby. JACK. KIRBY. So he understands the history of comics. - Pixar/Universal will be doing films for Marvel comics. AND THEY'LL DO WHAT MARVEL WANT THEM TO!!! That means no more EYEBEAMING DEADPOOL!!!
Which brings me to the point you made earlier - Disney have done loads of Violent/Scary films. I mean, Pirates of The Caribbean had a kid being hung, throats being slit. Hell, if you look at the Disney classics, then there's plenty of scenes of violence - Bambi's mum gets shot, Belle (beauty and the beast) gets hunted by wolves, Stitch goes rabid and kills all of his sequels (OK, I made that up, but acknowledging that there was a sequel to the original Lilo & Stitch is a sin, like saying you prefer Highlander 2. Rant over).
If people stop worrying that we're gunna see Donaldpool and Plutonisher, and think about the positives this will bring, then there's no need to worry.
