$16 Character Mentor commissions

I was asked to look into the design of his original character Mz. Fernus, and also look into her origin to try and develop the character a little.
I think the original design of the character is great, but reading up on the history of the character, felt that the two didn't feel quite connected. Although, bank this costume for another character for sure! It could work for another hero or even a villain!
I went through some character points that I was given, and simply expanded upon them and asked questions about where these traits came from and where they could go. I didn't want to force the ideas on the character, so offered different suggestions for reasons behind things, like why she is shy and quiet, why she got into chemistry, how does that effect her through her life, is it relatable to her existing powers, and what does she want to do now that she has powers
I also drastically changed the design. I liked the base, but expanded upon it, making it more conservative to match the character's personality, adding more bright colours to match the super powers, and to make it more heroic looking. To see if the design worked, I applied it to some commissioned artwork of Mz. Fernus.
Some things that I think are objectionable, maybe I went too red in the skin, but before I thought the character was black before reading up on her backstory. She is in fact caucasian, so I wanted to make her even more red to make the distinction. This is something that can certainly be toned down, as the angrier she gets, the more vibrant a red she could get because of the heat, with even white flare spots appearing, maybe in hot areas like the muscle groups. I also changed the hair to white to carry the theme of heat, white hot, and it went with the costume colour. I think the hair could start off black still, and could also be a thing where the angrier she gets, the hotter she gets, her hair turns white.
Anyway, just lots of ideas and suggestions thrown at the character, with design characters with reasoning that reflect the character and her powers. None of these ideas need to be taken and implemented, and just serve as ideas to help inspire for any changes you may wish to make.

Very surprised to see this finished so quickly. Still, you've managed to put a lot of thought into it, which I'm always grateful for.
I really like the thought you've put into helping develop her backstory. Lot of good ideas to use from there. Costume-wise, it is certainly far from what I expected to happen, but in a good way. Not sure if I'd use the mask, but the rest of the costume works. Will need to think over the hair changing color, but the skin idea is spot on with what I thought about her powers. Again, very good stuff all around.
