This is my superhero character Celtic Claw (who I originally created using city of heroes). I thought having an action figure of my own character would be cool, so I went ahead and made one. :)

I have always been a fan of games workshop and collecting action figures, so this combined two loves. I really admire the sculptors, painters and even customizers that work on these action figures, and always wanted a go myself, so I dedicated my summer to finish this piece off.

The figure started off as a Marvel Legends Galactus series Bullseye variant [link] which i hated because the grinning face is ugly as sin. I picked it up cheap, so thought I would mess around. I used games workshop paints, milliput and apoxie sculpt, and elastic band and wolverine's claws. Bless him.

Let me know what you think. Would love feedback on this, I want to do more. :)

Wish i had the time to make more, but between animating a film and drawing pics, i got no extra time, and customs take me ages.

no offense taken, i know i gotta brush up on my painting skills. my problem is with black and white, i just dont know how to shade and highlight them without it looking awful. I am used to the small warhammer models, so going to 6 inch was kinda weird. I really like painting the inquisitor models. How would you go about painting white and black and adding good highlights. I mainly went for a drybrush white with a light blue underneath, then applied a gray wash and dry brushed again with white, but it wasnt working.

When i would start with it i would paint the ground color solid white, then I would start with the black areas. I would mix the black with some drops of blue to make it more shiny and not only solid ugly black^^. Then for the Highlights on the black i would look on PVC and Lates and some of that stuff, when U look at this U see a Highlight is often Greyish with some blue in it.... so I would mix a dark grey with a lot of water and some blue und would paint layer by layer (dont forget a lot of water this is very importand for the shading). till u have small dots of a highlight spot....

Back to the white, when u work on the muscles for example. Think of a spot that is shining on them, then outside of the solid white start to take a mix between grey and some kind of grayish blue and again a lot of water and get again layer by layer to get darker on the bodom between the muscles.... I think this would look good, for shading the figure....?!
Here is an example for white with shading [link]

I realy Hope that I could help u in any way... this is just the way I learned it when I took a solid white backgroundcolor...

easyier is maybe to take a black background color, because u reach faster ur goals, but if u want a soft shady look, than i recomend to take a white background color!

This is a good example for what you can reach when u are taking a solid white background.....

Like I said, I realy hope that I could help u. when u have any more questions, just ask me!

cool man, thanks for the advice. so for white, essentially you dont paint the highlights, the white is the highlight, and you just darken everything else slightly. never thought of that. saw a painting guide on that website, think i'm gonna buy it for later reference. cheers. :)
Feel free to critique my future works. ^_^

This is really cool looking. How did you make it? I'm sure you've had to answer that quite a few times already, but I thought I'd still ask.
